Accommodation: There is a wide range of accommodation options in Monterrey. I recommend renting a room in a student dormitory. I chose Garza Sada 1892, not only because it offers a large pool, 24/7 security, study rooms, and a gym, but also because of the many supermarkets, restaurants, and a cinema located on the street.
Transportation: With Uber, you can get almost anywhere from almost anywhere, at any time. Public transport is not recommended, as it can be unsafe in some areas.
Food: In addition to two cafeterias, there are countless restaurants and cafés on campus, like Starbucks, Subway, Carl’s Jr., etc.
Activities and more: The Tec de Monterrey campus is huge and offers many sports and exercise opportunities, such as a gym, a football field, Pilates, yoga, a swimming pool, and much more. There are regular open-air cinema events on campus, as well as cultural events where students bring specialties from around the world. Besides the activities organized by the university, there is also the "Goodlife Monterrey" organization, which hosts parties and day trips during the semester. Monterrey itself doesn't have many tourist attractions, but it's a great place for hiking in the nearby mountains. In the wealthiest area, "San Pedro," there are many shopping centers, restaurants, and almost all the clubs. It’s just a 15-minute drive from the Tec campus.

Accommodation: I chose an apartment in Garza Sada 1892, which offers several different apartments for various preferences. Residents of Garza Sada have access to a small gym and a shuttle bus that runs every 30 minutes to Tec. I cannot recommend the Tec residence halls because there are many restrictions, and you don’t have good connections with international students.
Transportation: The public transport system we know in Hamburg doesn’t exist in Monterrey. There are only regular buses, which I wouldn’t recommend, and a metro. However, the metro line only covers a very small area. I used Uber exclusively to get around the city.
Activities and more: Monterrey is one of the most expensive places in Mexico, which you should consider when planning your budget. Many activities, like Topgolf or going to a club, are more expensive than in Hamburg. I visited Tulum, Cozumel, and Cancun during my first Semana Tec (spring break).
